The former Chairman of GCMMF (owner of brand Amul) Mr Parthi Bhatol has come out in open against the present Chairman Vipul Chaudhary on the issue of the ongoing controversy threatening to divest Chaudhary of his post in the cooperative dairy major.
“The Directors of several cooperative milk unions are fed up with Vipul Chaudhary’s style of functioning. His ways are autocratic and he does not bother to consult anybody before taking important decisions”, Mr Bhatol said to Indian Cooperative.
Even the members of Mehsana Dairy Cooperative Union where he has stronghold, people are up in arms against Chaudhary due to his high- handedness, Bhatol added. He goes on spending-spree leaving the farmers seething with anger, he said.
Readers could recall that the nick-of-the-hour intervention by the High Court has though postponed the Board meeting of GCMMF scheduled for last Saturday, chances of Mr Chaudhary continuity as GCMMF Chairman is anybody’s guess.
The main charge against him is over-spending without Board’s approval. In his attempt to boost his political career he goes on twisting the norms and values of cooperative giant GCMMF, said one of Directors on condition of anonymity.
Getting personal with Sharad Pawar Mr Vipul Chaudhary promised him to supply cattle feed to the tune of Rs 30 crore. A delivery worth Rs 22 crore has already been made to Maharashtra, charged Mr Bhatol.
Fourteen Directors from a total of 17 are already opposed to him. Khera, Moga and a third milk unions are with him. But his detractors say that it is sooner than later that they too would join in chorus against Chaudhary.
Vipul is constantly hobnobbing with Congress leaders. He met Rahul Gandhi during his last trip to the state and is in constant touch with Ahmed Patel, a close aid of Congress President Sonia Gandhi, said Mr Bhatol.
The present controversy in GCMMF, according to political pundits is but a mirror image of the fight going on between BJP and Congress. Cozying up with Narendra Modi Vipul, though grabbed the job but his ambition to grow further has sent him scurrying to the Congress camp, they argue.
He eyes Parliamentary seat, says Mr Bhatol. Obviously, all is not well with Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation.
