Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), that owns the Amul brand, will soon set up a processing unit in the Northeast. Talking to Indian Cooperative in the wake of a PTI release R S Sodhi, MD of the dairy behemoth confirmed the news item.
“Yes we plan to increase our activities in the region of seven sisters. Much of north-east remains unexplored in terms of white revolution and GCMMF has ambitious plans to reach out”, Sodhi added.
The cooperative titan will have its processing units in Kanpur and in Lucknow, UP operational in the foreseeable future, he added.
The GCMMF Managing Director says the cooperative will also set up a processing unit near Kolkata. Amul has already made its presence felt in several overseas markets including USA.
