It bears recalling that India has embraced circular economy as a major priority area during its G-20 presidency, wherein Amul’s dairy cooperative model is proving a best self-sustaining circular economy model for the energy sector in rural areas.
Cow dung, which is produced daily, is now being converted into organic manure and biogas at the village level. This initiative will result in huge savings for our farmers as well as foreign exchange for the country while reducing usage of chemical fertilizers and fossil fuels.
This will also generate a new income source for the farmers, which is environmentally friendly and sustainable. It will empower our farmers, continue to provide healthy and nutritious dairy products, and protect the environment and lives of billions of future generations.
