The pride of dairy cooperative movement GCMMF which sells its products under the brand name of Amul has been listed as one of the top three fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) brands in India. Amul ranked second in the list after Parle.
Besides, two other cooperative dairy brands including Tamil Nadu Cooperative Milk Producers’ Federation Limited which sells its products under the brand name of Aavin and Karnataka Cooperative Milk Producers Federation Limited which sells its products under the brand name of Nandini ranked seventh and eighth in the list respectively.
The World Panel Division of Kantar released the eighth edition of its report ‘Brand Footprint 2020’ last week, which presents the annual ranking of FMCG brands based on the Consumer Reach Points that the brands score in a year.
Jubilant at the news GCMMF MD R S Sodhi tweeted, “Farmer’s owned Brand “Amul” among top 3 FMCG Brands in India. It’s shows Farmer’s business acumen and wisdom. @Amul_Coop @girirajsinghbjp @atul1chaturvedi”.
As soon as Sodhi shared the news through social media his followers started congratulating him and his team.
One of the followers of Sodhi tweeted, ” Congratulations sir. What a commendable achievement. Kudos to you and your team”. ” Making brand, keep alive, take brand at top, it depends on top management character and dedication. Hence brand success is brand owner success”, wrote another follower on social media.
According to the report, Parle is on the top, Amul on the second and Clinic Plus secured the third position Whereas Birtannia, Ghari, Tata, Aavin, Nandini, Colgate and Wheel are among the top 10 in the list.
While the two-thirds of the top 50 list consisted of Indian-origin brands, their growth was only 16 per cent over the last year, the market research agency said. Global brands, which constituted a third of the top 50 list, grew 29 per cent over the last year, the report said.
Scoring the highest CRP (mn) at 6079/ +12% Parle, ranks first followed by Amul at 4,632 CRP (mn)/ +17% and Clinic Plus at 4,514 CRP (mn)/ +32%.
