During one flat resale, it has happened that the earlier owner’s one cheque of Rs 11000 got bounced which erroneously not recorded in the maintenance record. Due to this the durd were zero at the time of society transfer.
This due were come to light during the year end audit and now some members are holding the treasurer responsible for the same and admin him to pay this.
However the registrar has given order to this that the the due can be knocked off and process the flat transfer which has been done a year before.
Now this due is not shown in the society balance sheet and also not part of any suspense account.
Will be the erstwhile treasurer be liable to pay this sum? Please guide.

No individual office bearer can be fined for doing his duty may be with less care. But it cannot be the fault of one member only. Registrar’s order is right. The Society should explore prosecuting the drawer of a check which bounced.
