Our society consists of shops and residential apartments. Our the years they have been collecting maintenance from both and money is put in a common pool. Now they have increased charges by 2 times
My question is as shop owner am I liable to pay for security and cleaning of the flats or only for the services provided by the society to shop owners. They don’t provide security or garbage disposal services to shop owners. We do not use lifts either.
Are we liable to pay maintenance for all of these or only for the services provided by the society to shop owners.I am based in Mumbai.

Charging members fees for maintenance is governed by the Bye laws of the Society concerned. So find out from the Society office what are the basis of apportioning. They are different for different societies.
