In our Mumbai based society I am having 2 flats. Both have me as 1st member and wife as associate member. Can I attend general body meeting as 1st member of one flat and give rights to my wife to attend the meeting in respect of other flat.

In a Cooperative Society “One Member one Vote” is the Cardinal Principle. According to Section 27 of MCS Act 1960, “no member of any society shall have more than one vote in its affairs; and every right to vote shall be exercised personally and not by proxy”
A member holding more than one flat also has one vote only, though not many members or even Committees are aware about.
As for your wife’s vote in Members’ general meeting Bye Laws under all Models authorise sucg voting only in the absence of the 1st named person at the meeting.
“an associate member, may, subject to the provisions of sub-section (8) of section 27, have such privileges and rights and be subject to such liabilities of a member, as may be specified in the by-laws of the society.”
So go to office and get a copy, you will come to know a lot more things. Having two flats you need to make some efforts in your interest.
