Jairam Kamath
Dear Sir,
Suppose I wish to incorporate a Co-operative society (for mutual economic benefit of members) in Kerala, under which Act should I incorporate the same?
I understand that there is a Kerala Co-operative Societies Act, 1969 which extends to the whole of the State of Kerala (also if I want to incorporate a Multi state co-operative society, I can do so under the Multi-State Cooperative Societies Act, 2002- but my operations are limited to Kerala).
However I also understand that there is a Co-operative Societies Act, 1912 which is an act passed by the Government of India. I just wanted to know where is the boundary between the two acts i.e. Can I incorporate a co-operative society in Kerala under the Co-operative Societies Act 1912 instead of my state Co-operative society act which is Kerala Co-operative Societies Act, 1969?
I C Naik
