Alice Fernandes
Dear Sir,
I am a member of a cooperative housing society in Andheri East. Our buildings are 4 story buildings and have no specific space for installation of Air conditioners.
Most of the members who have split ACs have installed their cooling units on the exterior wall of the Society below their window grills.
Since I am staying on the fourth floor(last floor) I have installed the cooling unit on the same exterior wall above my window with a proper grill box and not below my window for which the Managing Committee of my society has sent a notice to remove the unit and fix it below the window.
I have done this specially to avoid cutting of the window grill as we are on the last floor of the building and cannot leave the grill open or make a collapsible grill with lock (which can be easily opened) for security reasons as I am a widow(60 years old) and have an old mother( 85 years old) who is a dementia patient and a young daughter in the house.
Dear Sir, your advice in this matter would be highly appreciated.
I C Naik
Societies like to preserve the exterior ambience in good shape and uniform so the option for you is the address the security concerns separately may be some extra costs, but with in the uniform guidelines for AC installation.
