According to reports coming in, the Sahakar Ratna Award has been conferred on Tumkur Merchants Credit Cooperative Limited (TMCC) President Dr N.S.Jayakumar.
The award was given away by Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa during the 66th All India Cooperative Week at Tumkur, Karnataka.
The award consists of a citation, shawl and certificate besides other things. “This is the first time I have received an award from the State Government but on earlier occasions I got awards from various institutions”, said a euphoric Jayakumar to this correspondent on the phone.
The multi-state Tumkur Merchants Credit Cooperative (TMCC) has crossed a business mix of more than Rs 15k cr.
The society registered as Souharda Credit Cooperative on 23rd March 2006, commenced its operations on 30 April 2006. One of the novel services offered by TMCC is Cash Pickup and Cash Withdrawal at the doorsteps of its customers.
