In a move to promote women-led cooperatives, the Deputy Commissioner of Samba (Jammu & Kashmir) Abhishek Sharma inaugurated the Malhar Cooperative Canteen at the DC Office Complex recently.
The event saw the presence of prominent officials, including SSP Samba, ADC Samba, ACD Samba, DSWO Samba, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, Chief Horticulture Officer, Deputy Registrar Cooperative Societies Samba, and Assistant Registrars of Samba District, among others.
The inaugural event, hosted by the Malhar Cooperative Canteen, underlined their commitment to enhancing the cooperative movement in the district.
The Deputy Commissioner praised the quality and hygiene of the food and the canteen premises, highlighting the cooperative’s dedication to maintaining high standards.
In his address, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized the importance of supporting women-led cooperatives, noting that this initiative is a step towards empowering women and promoting economic self-sufficiency among them, he said.
He handed over a certificate to Rakhi Sambyal the secretary of the society along with other members of the society, recognizing their efforts and achievements.
Additionally, the Deputy Commissioner provided valuable suggestions for future improvements, including the introduction of a suggestion box for feedback and the inclusion of recreational activities in the premises to create a more engaging environment for visitors and staff.
This initiative marks a milestone in the cooperative movement in Samba, reflecting the district’s commitment to fostering community-driven development and enhancing the quality of services provided to the public.
