IFFCO the largest fertilizer cooperative of the world will contribute Rs one crore to Sahakar Bharati for the development of cooperatives in the country. The money would be spent for women empowerment and farmer welfare, said IFFCO MD Dr U S Awasthi.
Awasthi announced this during the inaugural session of the 6th National Convention of Sahakar Bharati organized this weekend in Pushkar, Rajasthan. The occasion also saw bestowing of Inamdar Award on IFFCO MD.
Sharing the news IFFCO MD tweeted, “I am thankful to @Sahakar_Bharati for presenting the prestigious Late Laxamrao Inamdar Memorial Award to me. I also announced the support of Rs 1crore on behalf of #IFFCO to #SahakarBharati for women empowerment & farmer welfare. Role of women is very important in #cooperatives”.
Readers would recall that IFFCO had been donating money to strengthen co-op movements in various parts of the country. Last year it donated Rs 2 crore to Biscomaun for upgrading its tech know-how. Earlier, it also donated to UP’s PCF for computerization of its offices.
