Trinamool Congress leader and chairman of Halisahar municipality in North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal, Raju Sahani, allegedly a beneficiary of a chit fund entity Sanmarg Cooperative, was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), reports IANS.
The CBI found from his residence cash worth Rs 80 lakh, an unlicensed pistol and the details of a bank account held by him in Bangkok, where huge sums were transferred in phases.
Sahani’s efforts to get bail have not yet met with success.
