Veteran Co-operator Shashitai passes away in Nashik

Dr. Shashitai Ahire, a prominent cooperative leader, banker, and the immediate past President of Sahakar Bharati Maharashtra State, passed away Tuesday morning around 9 a.m. at a local hospital following a brief illness. She was 72.

Dr. Ahire was a well-known figure in the cooperative sector, particularly in Nashik. She served as the head of the District Women Cooperative Bank and was recognized for her relentless efforts in empowering women. Her leadership earned her numerous accolades, including a prestigious award from the Maharashtra Urban Cooperative Banks’ Federation.

She was also the founder-president of the Renuka Nagari Patsansthan and a housing society under the same name, further cementing her legacy as a visionary and a dedicated community leader.

A condolence meeting will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2025, in Nashik to honour her memory and contributions, informs Satish Marathe while mourning her demise on social media.

In a heartfelt tribute, Marathe wrote “Dr. Shashitai Ahire’s life was a beacon of inspiration, dedicated to culture, society, and the nation. Her passing is an irreparable loss.”
