Vedanta supported Subhalaxmi Co-op trains rural women

Orissadairy.com reports Subhalaxmi Co-operative, a rural women’s co-operatives supported by Vedanta Aluminum, India’s largest producer of aluminium, started ‘Udyogini’ project to encourage entrepreneurship among rural women living in Jharsuguda and adjoining areas.

The co-operative is an important community development initiative of Vedanta Aluminium at Jharsuguda, claiming 4,100 women members in its fold.

The co-op helps women with micro-finance, skill development, financial literacy and market linkage, for building sustainable livelihoods.

It is said the project is aimed to increase its membership base to 10,000 in a few years’ time.
