Vamnicon, Pune held one day WDRA Farmers Awareness Program for agriculture and cooperative stakeholders at APMC, Marketyard, Newasa Ahmednagar last week.
The program was organised in collaboration with Agriculture Produce Market Committee, Newasa, Ahmednagar, Maharashtra, Ahmednagar District Cooperative Bank and Maharashtra State Warehousing Corporation (MSWC).
In total 57 farmers, traders, 14 FPO representatives, and 9 PACS representatives participated in the program.
Addressing the program, Dr. Mahesh Kadam, Associate Professor, VAMNICOM and Research Official, Shivaji Walke talked about the Farm level Storage practices, Benefits of Public Warehousing, Preventive measures for Avoidance of distress sale, Advantages of Grading and Standardization, Preservation of stock to maintain quality / quantity, Negotiable Warehouse Receipts etc.
In his remarks, Vilas Patole, NERL official spoke about, Electronic Warehouse Receipts – benefits of shifting to eNWR, Awareness about Repository System (National E-Repository Limited (NERL) and CDSL Commodity Repository Ltd (CCRL), operations on repository platform like account opening, pledge creation, pledge withdraw, eNWR extinguish etc.
The Ahmednagar District Cooperative Bank officials spoke about the benefits of the warehouse receipts and their importance in pledge loan, further demonstration for registration for pledge loan given by bank officials to the stakeholders.
Later in the day, participants had an Exposure Visit to WDRA Warehouse at MSWC Newasa guided and executed by Santosh Baghawat, Manager, MSWC, Newasa.
The program provided the road map for the stakeholders to register, store and explore more opportunities in the storage and logistics ecosystem.
