Pune-based Vaikunth Mehta National Institute of Cooperative Management (VAMNICOM), in collaboration with the African Asian Rural Development Organization (AARDO), New Delhi, launched an international training programme titled “Prosperity through Cooperation” on Monday.
The programme, which runs until 16th September 2024, will be attended by 10 participants from nine countries, including Eswatini, Ghana, Jordan, Kenya, Mauritius, Namibia, Sierra Leone, Sri Lanka, and Zambia.
The programme was inaugurated by Shri Jaikish, Chief General Manager and Principal of the College of Agricultural Banking, Reserve Bank of India, Pune.
During his inaugural address, Jaikish emphasized the significance of the Indian Cooperative movement and highlighted the transformative role played by the Reserve Bank of India in converting Primary Agriculture Cooperative Societies into Urban Cooperative Banks.
The event was also graced by Dr. Hema Yadav, Director of VAMNICOM & CICTAB, Dr. D. Ravi, Programme Director, along with esteemed faculty members and students.
This 10-day training programme is designed to familiarize participants with best practices in governance and women empowerment within cooperatives and rural financing institutions.
It also aims to sensitize participants to the organizational structure and governance of cooperatives, further strengthening international cooperation and development.
