The Uttarakhand government is set to amend the State Cooperative Society Election Rules, with a proposal soon to be presented in the Cabinet.
The amendment aims to include members of agricultural credit cooperative societies in the voter list, even if they have not conducted any transactions with the society in the past three years.
The cooperative society elections are scheduled for December 16 and 17, and this change will ensure that all members, including women, can exercise their voting rights.
According to Cooperative Election Authority Chairman Hansa Dutt Pandey, under the current rules, members who have not conducted transactions like purchasing seeds, fertilizers, or availing loans are ineligible to vote.
The proposed amendment, particularly to Rule 12(b), seeks to remove this restriction.
