Uttarakhand Cooperative Department has started the interest waiver scheme for the dependents of 32,000 deceased defaulters of State Cooperative Bank, District Central Cooperative Banks and Cooperative Societies.
Under the scheme, the family members of the defaulters can become free from their loans by depositing the principal amount of the loans. The scheme was launched by Uttarakhand Cooperation Minister Dr Dhan Singh Rawat on Saturday, last week.
Rawat said, “The total loan of Rs 132 crore is outstanding in the entire state. The interest waiver scheme will remain valid till 30th September 2023”.
“In 2017, the state’s cooperative bank and cooperative societies were in loss of around Rs 30 crore. But as on today, these are in profit of Rs 182 crore”, he added.
