District Central Cooperative Banks across Uttarakhand have disbursed interest free loans worth of Rs 150 crore to around 25k farmers associated with Primary Agriculture Cooperative Societies (PACCs).
The disbursement was done during the inauguration of Deen Dayal Upadhyay Sahakarita Kisan Kalyan Yojana by the State Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat last week from Dehradun. The program was streamed live at 100 locations where scores of farmers registered their participation. Under the scheme, farmers are getting interest free loans upto Rs 3 lakh.
On the occasion the respective DCCBs organized a function at several locations in which the local MP and others participated. Several DCCBs also handed over the cheque to the beneficiaries.
According to the data received from the office of State Registrar, in Udhamsingh Nagar 2832 loan beneficiaries were disbursed loans worth of Rs 10.43 crore whereas in Haridwar, beneficiaries were 3999 and loans disbursed worth Rs 21.84 crore.
“In Nainital and Pithoragarh the beneficiaries were 2498 and 2122 respectively. The loans worth Rs 25.27 crore were disbursed. In Pauri Garhwal and Almora beneficiaries were 3,576 disbursed loans worth Rs 29 crore. Similarly, in Dehradun loans were given to 2225 beneficiaries worth Rs 15,90 crore”, as per the data provided by the registrar’s office. .

Addressing the meeting CM said, “This is an encouraging sign and fulfilling our commitment we have decided to give an interest-free loan of up to Rs 3 lakh to farmers for works related to agriculture and allied sectors, and up to Rs 5 lakh to self-help groups.
Rawat further added that, “The condition of the market cannot improve till farmers and villagers acquire more income. In order to improve the economic conditions of people in rural areas we are building growth centres based on different themes with 107 growth centres being approved so far.
Today, the growth centres are proving effective in enhancing the livelihoods of the local residents. The growth centres will be extended to every Nyay Panchayat in the state,” he said.
