Allegations of cheating and forgery amounting to Rs 55 crore have surfaced in the Urban Cooperative Society, Angamaly. Angamaly police have initiated an investigation into the case, which spans back to 2002.
The FIR reveals that loans were granted based on forged applications, some even in the names of non-members.
The complexity of verifying numerous documents suggests a lengthy inquiry. Charges have been filed against 14 committee members and six employees, invoking various sections of the IPC and the Prevention of Corruption Act.
