Business Standard reports the Uttar Pradesh government has given a financial package of Rs 500 crore for the cooperative sector sugar mills to settle arrears for the 2019-20 crushing season.
A source is quoted saying this financial help would be given to 24 govt. controlled cooperative mills as loans but the arrears would be settled by giving the money directly into the bank accounts of the farmers.
Earlier, UP sugarcane minister Suresh Rana had called upon chief minister Yogi Adityanath to make available financial assistance for the cooperative mills.
