At long last, the suspense is over. Bharatiya Janata Party has fielded Uttarakhand State Cooperative Federation (UCF) former Chairman Brij Bhushan Gairola to contest the State Assembly election from one of the VIP seats Doiwala, Dehradun.
Confirming the news to Indian Cooperative, Gairola said, “Yes, it’s true that I got the ticket for contesting the assembly polls from Doiwala constituency. My name was announced Thursday late at night”.
It bears recall that Uttarakhand former Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat is the sitting MLA from this constituency but he has expressed his unwillingness to contest the present assembly polls.
Meanwhile, for getting a ticket from the same constituency, Dehradun District Central Cooperative Bank Chairman Amit Rinku Shah met senior leaders of BJP but to no avail. His supporters had launched a massive campaign on social media but all efforts went in vain. It is to be mentioned here Shah’s father Late Rajendra Shah had been elected MLA thrice from Mussoorie.
Congress has filed Mohit Uniyal from Doiwala. Readers would recall that in the last election, Gairola sought ticket from Deoprayag’s seat but had failed to get it.
The Legislative Assembly elections will be held in Uttarakhand on 14 February 2022 to elect 70 members of the Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly. The counting will be held on 10th March.
