Reserve of India recently called the meeting of CEOs and Managing Directors of Urban Cooperative Banks of India at College of Agricultural Banking (CAB) in Pune.
Readers would recall that RBI every year organizes the meeting of CEOs and MDs of UCBs for deliberating on issues related to the cooperative banking sector.
More than 65 participants from about 50 Urban Cooperative Banks including Saraswat Bank, Cosmos and other leading banks participated in the discussions.
Adoption of technology in cooperative banking activities was the main issue of discussions during the meeting. Participants urged RBI to extend the limit of home loans and give them facilities on the lines of private banks and nationalized banks.
One of the participants said to this correspondent the meeting with RBI was fruitful and the issues raised during the discussions will be resolved soon, he hoped.
CEOs of Urban Cooperative Banks also discussed the challenges being faced by them.
