In a bid to help the needy amid the Covid-19 second wave, Karnataka based Multi State Cooperative Society- Tumkur Merchants Credit Cooperative donated 30 oxygen concentrators worth Rs 23 lakh to the district commissioner, Tumkur last week.
Besides, the society also donated furniture items worth Rs 5 lakhs to the Swami Vivekananda Integrated Rural Health Centre Shree Sharadadevi Eye Hospital, in Pavagada, Tumkur.
The oxygen concentrator machines were distributed in the presence of Minor Irrigation Minister J C Madhuswamy, MP G S Basavaraj and the local MLA Jyothi Ganesh. On the occasion the society President Dr N S Jayakumar and other board directors were also present.
Recently, the society launched an ‘ATM on wheels’ facility despite the lockdown caused by Coronavirus.
Readers would recall that, last year the society had donated an amount of Rs 10 lakh to the district hospital for upgradation of ICU and oxygen supply equipment.
TMCC has crossed a turnover of more than Rs 27k cr in the 2020-21 financial year.
