Dr. Kamala Kant Tripathy, a 1999 batch Indian Economic Service (IES) officer, has been appointed as the Joint Secretary in the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister (EAC-PM), NITI Aayog, as per an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Friday.
Dr. Tripathy, a well-known figure in cooperative circles, previously served as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah in the Ministry of Cooperation. His appointment comes as he replaces Shri Pawan Kumar Sam, IAS (UT:2005).
He will assume the new role from the date of taking charge and serve for a tenure of five years or until further orders.
With vast experience in economic policy, governance, and cooperative sector reforms, Dr. Tripathy’s appointment is expected to strengthen the EAC-PM’s advisory role in economic policymaking.
His tenure in the Ministry of Cooperation was marked by policy initiatives aimed at strengthening the cooperative movement and enhancing financial inclusivity.
