In last three financial years i.e. 2019-20, 2020-21 and 2021-22, Trifed made a purchase of Rs 96.45 crore and sale of Rs 113.83 crore, informed Union Minister of State for Tribal Affairs Renuka Singh Saruta while replying to a query raised by a Lok Sabha member.
“As on date, the number of retail outlets of Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India Limited (TRIFED) in the country, including franchise and consignment, is 119 out of which 2 outlets are located in the state of Andhra Pradesh”, She further added.
Saruta in her reply further stated, “To promote the livelihood and enhance the income of tribal population TRIFED procures the tribal produce / products from its empanelled suppliers / producers and markets them through their retail outlets and also through the exhibitions organized in various parts of the country.
“For this purpose, TRIFED has made institutional arrangements with Aajeevika Mission of the Ministry of Rural Development, Regional Offices of Development Commissioner (Handicraft & Handloom) etc. The total number of suppliers / producers empanelled with TRIFED so far is 2297 including 93 suppliers of the state of Andhra Pradesh”, her reply reads.
