Breaking all the past records, Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India (TRIFED) has done the highest ever procurement of Minor Forest Produces items in 16 states.
Sharing the news through social media Trifed MD Pravir Krishna (IAS) wrote on his twitter wall, “Highest Ever, Record Breaking Procurement of Minor Forest Produces going on in 16 states. Chhattisgarh leads as usual. Scheme injects Rs 200 crs into the Tribal Economy”.
Procurement of Minor Forest Produce items has been initiated in 16 States with total procurement worth Rs 835 crore through Central Government and State funds and almost Rs 1200 Cr through private trade (through sales at Mandis/haat bazaars) since April 2020.
This takes the total procurement for the year to Rs 2000 crore and provides a direct benefit transfer to tribal people in lieu of their Minor forest produces.
