While inaugurating and laying the foundation stone of multiple key initiatives for the cooperative sector on Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi underscored the role of Nafed, Trifed and other state cooperatives in enhancing the production of honey.
In his speech, he said, “Cooperative sector is playing an important role in honey production and will thus contribute to the Sweet Revolution in India”.
“With the involvement of cooperatives in the honey sector, the honey production increased from 75 thousand metric tonnes to 1.5 lakh metric tonnes and honey export increased from 28 thousand metric tonnes to 80 thousand metric tonnes in the last 10 years”, said the Prime Minister which received huge rounds of applause from the audience.
He further added, “I had urged cooperators of Gujarat to come forward in the production of Honey. Earlier, we saw White Revolution in our country, now this time we have to work on ushering in a sweet revolution”.
