Reeling from a serious financial crisis, Sahakara Sarige, a transport cooperative in Karnataka has sought help from the state government. The cooperative serves at least 30,000 people in three districts – Chikkamagaluru, Shivamogga and Udupi, reports Hindu.
The cooperative was established in 1991. President of the cooperative E.S.Dharmappa says the transport cooperative was doing well till 2013 but its problems began with the diesel price hike.
Sources say the cooperative has already submitted a proposal to the government for financial assistance. The organization runs 76 buses altogether and boasts assets worth Rs. 16 crore.
