The Co-operation Department of Punjab has aggressively begun recovering loan amounts from big landlords who owe huge amounts to co-operative and agricultural development banks, reports Punjab News Express. Earlier, S. Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, the Co-op Minister had sounded tough on defaulters.
Official sources say the Assistant Registrar of the Co-operative Societies Malout has issued a notice to Dyal Singh Kolianwali for depositing the total amount of Rs. 39,lakh including principal amount and interest.
Similarly, notices have also been issued to wife of Dyal Singh Kolianwali-Amarjit Kaur for depositing Rs. 36 lakh while Parminder Singh, son of Dyal Singh Kolianwali has been issued a notice asking him to return the amount totaling Rs. 5 lakh.
Meanwhile, the family of ex-MLA Jagdish Raj Sahni, who owes loan amount to the Gurdaspur Central Co-operative Bank, has repaid Rs. 21 lakh which is 25 percent of the loan amount.
