Tamil Nadu Minister for Cooperation Sellur K. Raju said cooperative banks across the state had given crop loans of more than Rs twenty thousand crore to lakhs of farmers to help them escape the clutches of greedy moneylenders ,reports Hindu.
The minister was taking part in the Cooperative Week function held at Palayamkotta. The minister said the cooperative banks had also helped, 28,710 differently-abled people with Rs. 98.95 crore for starting their business ventures, he said.
Several govt officials and cooperators participated in the cooperative week celebrations.
