Trinamool Congress has swept a cooperative body’s polls in East Midnapore, media reports say. Out of 12 seats in the Panskura cooperative body, Trinamool Congress has won 7 while CPI-M 4 seats. BJP only won 1 seat.
It is worth mentioning that TMC Congress had earlier won another cooperative body in Mahisadal. Sources say CPI[M] and BJP had a tacit understanding in East Midnapore to defeat Trinamool Congress but they failed this time.
It bears recalling that TMC was defeated in a cooperative election at Nandakumar of Purba Medinipur district in West Bengal. Interestingly, the party lost to a coalition panel comprising the local CPI (M) and the BJP.
