TMC on winning spree in cooperative societies

The Trinamool Congress (TMC) achieved another major victory in East Midnapore, securing all 12 seats in a cooperative election in Bhagwanpur Block II, media reports say. Of 839 voters, 764 cast their votes, with 32 candidates contesting.

Last month, TMC swept Mahishadal’s Kalikakunda Bakshichowk cooperative election, winning 39 uncontested seats, as BJP fielded candidates in only three.

Earlier in 2024, TMC dominated Mahishadal’s cooperative society elections. Local TMC leaders attribute BJP’s poor performance to a weak organizational base, as seen in recent elections, including December’s Contai cooperative bank, where TMC won 101 of 108 seats.
