Three men were sentenced to three years in jail for cheating the National Cooperative Consumers Federation of India (NCCF) by selling Janta Handloom Cloth, causing financial loss, reports the HT.
The case, filed 27 years ago, saw Gande Lal Gupta, A. K. Kala, and Suraj Kumar Singh convicted by a special CBI court.
They conspired from August 1988 to February 1990 in Kanpur. The court imposed fines of Rs 1.25 lakh, Rs 75,000, and Rs 50,000 respectively. The CBI registered the case on December 24, 1993, against the trio.
