Cooperative housing societies in Telengana have come in for an acerbic criticism from members in the state assembly for serious irregularities.
The state chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao assured the members that irregularities in the societies will be thoroughly enquired into and harsh punishment be meted out to all those responsible. The findings of the committee will be put before the house without bowdlerization, asserted the chief minister.
The state govt without any delay agreed with members about the constitution of the house committee to investigate the irregularities.
The societies likely to be investigated include Jublee Hills, Journalists, Filmnagar and Nandagiri.
Sources say 1,398 acres of land was allotted to the Jubilee Hills Cooperative Society in 1964 at `200 per acre and some part of it was re-allotted to the other societies.
