Vikarabad district in Telangana has 45 PACS but these cooperative organizations are ceasing to be important as they are not offering any financial help to the farmers in the district, reports Hans India.
The sorry state of affairs of PACS is being blamed on lack of cooperation from members and functionaries.
As a result of it, farmers are getting dependent on private and commercial banks for loans. Needless to say, this has led to farmers paying huge interests on loans and falling into a debt trap.
Meanwhile, farmers have called upon officials and govt. bodies to ensure PACS begin to function as before.
