IT officials have urged RBI to conduct investigations against cooperative banks in Surat for deleting their CCTV footage immediately after demonetization, reports Times of India.
Meanwhile, I-T officials have seized the computer hard disks and other documents related to the account holders of the Varachha Cooperative Bank after they found Rs 200 crore in scrapped currency notes deposited in some 25,000 accounts with each account having less than Rs 50,000 deposits.
After demonetization, the Varachha Cooperative bank in Surat received the highest Rs 1,400 crore worth of scrapped notes deposited by the account holders, sources say.
