Biscomaun Chairman Sunil Singh, who is these days busy campaigning for RJD, had a tough time explaining the controversial “Babu Saheb” statement made by the RJD Chief Ministerial candidate Tejashwi Yadav.
In one of his election meetings Tejashwi said that during the rule of his father Lalu Prasad Yadav, Dalits and downtrodden would sit before Babu sahebs with confidence and aplomb. Jumping on the statement, BJP’s Sushil Modi tried to make a political mileage out of it as an insult to the kshatriya community.
A member of Kshatriya community himself, Sunil took upon himself the task of assuaging his caste men. Sunil explained that what Tejashwi meant was Babus (clerks) from office, not the Babu sahebs (Rajputs). How far the people believed Sunil is not known.
Sunil also taunted the junior Modi for rising up from bed in the hospital like a political vulture to feed on the situation. Playing a lead role in the campaign, Sunil is seen flanking Tejashwi in several of his political rallies.
