Gujarat’s Surat District Co-operative Milk Producers Union (SUMUL Dairy) has achieved a significant milestone by winning the first prize in the Food & Processing sector at the prestigious National Energy Conservation Awards 2024.
The award was presented by the Vice-President of India, Jagdeep Dhankhar, during a grand ceremony held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, on Saturday. Representing SUMUL Dairy, Chairman Mansinhbhai Patel and Vice Chairman Rajeshkumar Pathak proudly accepted the accolade.
This remarkable achievement marks a hat-trick of wins for SUMUL Dairy, underscoring its leadership in energy conservation. Notably, it stands out as the only recipient from the dairy cooperative sector to receive this esteemed recognition.
The award celebrates SUMUL Dairy’s exceptional contributions to energy efficiency and sustainability in the dairy sector. It also highlights the outstanding efforts of the Sumul Food Factory in Surat, which played a pivotal role in securing this honor.

As a key member of the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), SUMUL Dairy procures 24 lakh liters of milk daily from Surat and Tapi districts. With 2.5 lakh dairy farmers associated, it remains a vital pillar of Gujarat’s thriving dairy cooperative ecosystem.
