Members associated with Gujarat based Sumul Dairy have cast their votes for the election to the board of directors of dairy cooperative on Friday. The voting was held for 14 seats out of 16 seats because two directors have been elected unopposed.
On an average 783 voters have cast their votes in 14 Talukas located in Surat and Tapi District of Gujarat and registered 98 percent voting. The counting of votes will be done on 9th August 2020 i.e. tomorrow.
The election is interesting because the leaders of the two different panels who are in race are staunch leaders of BJP. Even BJP State President C R Patil failed to resolve internal differences between the two groups.
There are sixteen Talukas in Surat and Tapi District and only one director will be elected from each Taluka.
Sumul Dairy is one of the milk unions of GCMMF that sells its products under the brand name of Amul.
