You would have as much ‘desi ghee’ as you want on your platter without worrying about your health. Comfed is soon to launch cholesterol-free ghee, which will be produced with the technical aid of National Dairy Research Institute (NDRI) at Karnal in Haryana, said Bihar CM Nitish Kumar at the 32nd foundation day of Comfed in Patna, says a report by Times of India.
Mr. Kumar lauded the role played by Comfed in bringing about the white revolution in Bihar. Bihar is self-dependent in milk and milk products, which are free from any kind of adulteration only because of this milk cooperative federation, which comprises eight milk unions and five other units, Mr. Kumar noted.
Comfed has automated dairy and tetra packaging plant at Biharsharif. Milk powder is produced at Barauni, Biharsharif, Patna and Muzaffarpur.
Chief Minister launched a pilot project under which funds will be transferred directly to the accounts of 50 cooperative societies. Earlier, these societies were paid by their respective milk unions.
Comfed MD Adesh Titarmare said, two more milk unions — Nalanda and Champaran — will be set up soon and the federation will consist of 10 unions. A couple of thousands of milk producers and hundreds of distributors from Bihar and Jharkhand participated in the event.
