In a significant move aimed at addressing the plight of depositors, Karnataka based Sri Guru Raghavendra Sahakara Bank Depositors Forum met Karnataka Chief Minister S. Siddaramaiah to urge the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT).
The forum highlighted the financial and emotional hardships faced by depositors and stressed the urgency of a time-bound investigation to recover stolen funds and bring fraudsters to justice.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah gave the delegation a sympathetic hearing and promptly ordered the ADGP, CID, to be summoned the following day to discuss the formation of the SIT. This development comes as a silver lining after the CBI declined to take the investigation under its ambit.
One of the forum representatives said that the meeting was facilitated by Ms. Sowmya Reddy, who played a pivotal role in organizing the discussion despite her busy schedule. The forum expressed deep gratitude to her for fulfilling her commitment and ensuring the issue reached the Chief Minister.
“Dr. Shankar Guha accompanied the delegation and effectively communicated the concerns of depositors, further convincing the Chief Minister of the need for an SIT. The forum also lauded the depositors who, despite physical and medical challenges, attended the meeting to voice their concerns”, he added.
The depositors hope this initiative will bring a positive outcome in the new year, offering a ray of hope to those affected by the bank’s mismanagement.
This development marks a crucial step toward justice and resolution for the depositors of Sri Guru Raghavendra Sahakara Bank.
