Soft-spoken Chalke elected President of Maha Sah Bharati

A mild-mannered and soft-spoken man- Dattaram Chalke has been unanimously elected as the President of Sahakar Bharati’s Maharashtra Chapter for a three-year term. Chalke takes over from Shashitai Ahir, who previously held the position.

Alongside Chalke’s election, Vivek Jugade, a cooperator from Nagpur, has been re-elected as the General Secretary. The elections took place during Sahakar Bharati’s State Level Conference held last week in Shirdi, Ahmednagar.

Talking to the Indian Cooperative correspondent, Chalke expressed his gratitude towards Sahakar Bharati’s National President, DN Thakur, National General Secretary, Dr. Uday Joshi, National Organizing Secretary, Sanjay Pachpor, founder member and RBI Director, Satish Marathe, and others for their faith and trust in him.

“It is a big responsibility for me as the President of Sahakar Bharati’s Maharashtra Chapter, and I will strive to meet the expectations of our national leaders. My focus will be on strengthening the roots of the cooperative movement in the state and addressing the issues faced by cooperative societies,” said Chalke.

Notably, Chalke also served on the board of the National Federation of Urban Cooperative Banks and Credit Societies (NAFCUB) and was the Chairman of Mumbai-based Apna Sahakari Bank.
