Given an oversupply of milk, GCMMF has urged its member milk unions not to accept milk from private players, as they are diverting surplus milk to the cooperative network, reports Times of India.
“Across Gujarat, we are getting 22% more milk. In fact, in terms of volume we are getting 45 LLPD more milk compared to last year. Hence, we have asked all our member unions to be careful and restrict their procurement from regular registered milk producers only,” said GCMMF’s managing director R S Sodhi.
GCMMF is setting up new milk processing plants at Gandhinagar and Himmatnagar in Sabarkantha and the new plants will become operational in a couple of months, Sodhi informed.
GCMMF — the apex body of all the 17 district dairy unions of Gujarat procures 255 lakh litre milk per day (LLPD).
