Indian Express quotes R.S Sodhi MD GCMMF as saying though food inflation adversely affects the common people, it helps farmers raise their income.
Citing the example of milk prices, Sodhi said a 9 per cent spike in the last two years meant the farmers’ income grew by as many per cent.
If people pay more for food, it leads to rural India growing richer, Sodhi said while addressing the Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) on the topic ‘Amul@100.
According to Sodhi, with more money flowing into the countryside the urban-rural divide has reduced.
