The Cooperative Department of Tamil Nadu is buying vegetables from far away locations and selling them at cheap rates through Farm Fresh outlets to stabilize price development, reports Hindu.
It is worth mentioning that prices of vegetables have recently skyrocketed in Chennai city.
Cooperative minister of the state who inspected the sale at Kamadhenu Cooperative Supermarket, Teynampet possibly the busiest location in Chennai city, said tomatoes were being made available from Krishnagiri and Dindigul and small onions from Maharashtra.
According to the minister, the cooperative dept will open more such outlets depending on the requirements in other parts of the State.
