“Happy to meet the talented Sushil Kumar, first 5 Cr Winner of KBC, from my home town Motihari at my residence today”, tweeted Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh.
Readers would recall that more than 27 million people watched Sushil Kumar, a computer operator from Motihari, Bihar, win Rs 5 crore in 2011. He got instant celebrity overnight.
After taxes he got about Rs 3.6 crore which, he says, he spent in building a house which he shares with his parents and four brothers. He also purchased a plot of land in Motihari and some agricultural land but he remained workless more or less. Before Bihar election he met Nitish Kumar who asked him to address JDU Youth wing but nothing clicked.
Kumar is jobless today. Earlier in pre-KBC time he had a Rs 6,000 per month computer job with MGNREGA.
Though Singh does not mention what transpired between Sushil and him, Sushil has been making efforts to be a brand ambassador for Manrega and get involved in agriculture branding.
