The Oath-Taking Ceremony of the newly elected Chairman, Vice Chairman, and Board of Directors of the Sikkim State Cooperative Union (SICUN) was held last week at the SICUN conference hall in Assam Lingzey, in which State Cooperation Minister Arun Kr Upreti was the chief guest.
Dr. Mangal Jit Rai, an NCUI General Council Member, was sworn in as Chairman of SICUN, while Mr. Purna Prasad Sharma took the oath as Vice Chairman.
In his address, Upreti congratulated the SICUN members and highlighted the significance of promoting cooperative awareness at the grassroots level.
Dr. Rai underscored the importance of integrity, reflected on the history of SICUN, and discussed the challenges that lie ahead in the cooperative sector.
The event also included a presentation on the SICUN election process by CEO Mr. Phadung Bhutia.
On the occasion, Minister NB Pradhan, Pinsto Lepcha, and YK Sharma, Chairman of Sikkim Milk Union, along with other dignitaries, were present.
Notably, this may be the first time such an Oath-Taking Ceremony has been organized within the cooperative sector.
