The 71st All India Cooperative Week, themed “Role of Cooperatives in Building Viksit Bharat,” concluded today at the BAC Hall in Rakdong Tintek in Sikkim. The day’s focus, “Cooperatives for Women, Youth, and Weaker Sections,” highlighted the inclusive role of cooperatives in nation-building.
The event was graced by the Area MLA and Chairman of STCS, Shri Samdup Tshering Bhutia, as the Chief Guest. Distinguished attendees included Smt. Jabi Thapa, Principal Registrar of the Department of Cooperation, Government of Sikkim; Shri BPH Subba, Additional Registrar of Gangtok District; Smt. Sarda Roka, Additional Registrar; and other officials including ARCS, AO, CIs, ACIs, and PA.
Representatives from Rakdong Tintek MPCS (PACS), Farmers Producers Cooperative Societies (FPO), Milk Producers Cooperative Societies, and other cooperatives from nearby GPUs also participated. The program commenced with the hoisting of the Cooperative Flag by the Chief Guest, followed by the reading of messages from the Governor, Chief Minister, and Minister.
A notable moment of the ceremony was the felicitation of Shri Sonam Tshering Lepcha, the land donor, by the Chief Guest. The event marked the conclusion of the week-long celebration under the aegis of the Department of Cooperation, Government of Sikkim, Gangtok District.
